November 2016

Aegeret “Les Enfants” Pinot Noir

Wine Enthusiast says this is: “A soft and fruity wine that brings out attractive red berries and ripe plum flavors. There is the lightest touch of structure in a wine that is totally ready to drink”

I think this is the perfect way to describe it. This is the best value in French Pinot Noir I have ever had and it’s not even close. Bring this to your family gathering and give thanks for many things, including thanking Jean Luc and Paul Aegeret for making this splendid wine that you can buy for under $10.

$9.99 for the Month of November!

A portion of proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer research in October, so whatever style you fancy, as long as it is dry rose it helps save lives! A lot of these Rose are limited production and some are around all the time. The one thing they have in common is that they are all AWESOME. March-April 2016

Georges Duboeuf Regnie

As we transition from Easter into the month that promises a few showers, I begin to think of the nice spring weather ahead. What wine goes with “just warm enough to make us want to wear shorts” and “just cold enough to make us still put sweats on”? To me it is Beaujolais. Yes we do think of this wine in November when the Nouveau comes out, but Beaujolais is perfect for this time of the year as well. Cru Beaujolais is the cream of the crop and some of the best value in all of red wine. Georges Dubuoef makes wine in many of the 10 Cru of Beaujolais, and this month we are lucky enough to have their offering from “Regnie”. To all lighter red wine fans, this is a treat and a steal for only $14.99.*

Faustino Rioja Tempranillo

“Fall is in the air! October brings many things: Playoff baseball, football season in full swing, family outings where bundling up is a must, and halloween! Amongst other things, wine is always important when we start cooling off. The cool September I thought we might have didn’t exactly happen, but it seems to be here now. What in life is better than sitting with your family on a nice fall night, in a t shirt and sweat pants drinking red wine? Faustino VII Rioja is the perfect wine for this occasion. Made up of 100% tempranillo, this classic Rioja producer delivers with their entry into the market. Rioja is one of the most storied wine regions in the world, located in North Central Spain, and this wine will show you why. Bursting with fruit flavor, with enough of a backbone to stand up to red meat, but soft enough to keep you wanting more, this Rioja will keep Rioja lovers on their toes or create a new regime of Rioja lovers all together! At the wonderful price of $10.99, you will be thoroughly pleased.

This wine is the baby sister to the 2013 Decanter wine of the year, Faustino Gran 1 Reserva 2001. If you love the wine of the month, spring for the gran 1 reserva the next time and really see what heights Rioja can take you. Happy October everyone!

Fiesta de Azul y Garanza

As we approach football season, baseball playoffs, golf playoffs you name it! They all mean fall is in the air and the weather is starting to cool off some. Cool off, but not enough to feel cold. Just enough to make the weather basically perfect. What is better than sitting in a t-shirt and sweatpants on your back deck sipping on a perfectly balanced red wine? I would say not much in life. Add your family by your side with you and it paints the picture of what I’ll be doing all fall. Join me by starting with our September wine of the month, Fiesta de Azul y Garanza Garnacha/Tempranillo blend. This wine from the North of Spain (Navarro) embodies everything we enjoy about red blends. Bright aromatics of red fruits, with cherry, strawberry and a hint of white pepper on the palate. Not to mention a silky well balanced finish! On the lighter side of Medium bodied, this wine can’t miss, especially since it rings it at a whopping $9.99 in September!

August 2015

Skouras Zoe White Blend

We are taking a trip to Greece and indulging on a wonderful white blend from the winery Skouras. Zoe White is a dry white blend of Roditis and Moscofilero (Mosk-O-Feeler-O). What are those two grapes you ask? Native to Greece, they produce crisp, easy drinking, citrusy whites that are a treat for any white wine lover. With how hot August is looking to be, the Skouras Zoe White will pair perfectly with shellfish or even sitting on your deck watching the sunset. Greece is producing some fun white and red wines and the Skouras Zoe White is a great start to those who have not had the chance to try a Greek wine, and the perfect continuation for those that are already in love!

June 2015

Skouras Zoe White Blend

Recuerdo Torrontes

It’s time for summer! So instead of doing a red we will stick with a refreshing, white wine. Recuerdo (Ra-kware-doh) is located in Mendoza, Argentina in the La Rioja region. The estate has a perfect view of the Andes Mountains and is a wonderful place to dine outside and view the scenery. Recuerdo is a joint venture between northern Hemisphere (Blackbird Vineyards of Napa Valley) and southern hemisphere (Paul Leary of The Vines of Mendoza) wine people and shows great depth of character from both parties involved.

Torrontes (Tor – ron – tes) is the leading white grape of Argentina, and Recuerdo’s example is precisely what is amazing about torrontes. Light colored, with a boquet of citrus and floral essences, Recuerdo Torrontes is crisp with a clean finish and will impress any anyone who likes Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier or other aromatic whites. Only $12.99 for the month of June!

March 2015

Ercavio Airen (ER – CAV – E – O A – REN)

This means that it (hopefully) will start getting nicer outside. This wine reminded me of sitting on the proch on a nice spring day, so I am officially read for that time! The grape, Airen, is the most widely planted grape in Spain. This is normally use to make Brandy and other spirits, so I was surprised to see it as a wine! After tasting the wine I went from surprised, to pleasantly surprised! Light bodied with flavors of apples and grapefruit, with a crisp, clean finish; If you enjoy Sauvignon blanc in any form, you will also enjoy this wine! So come in during the month of march and try Ercavio Airen for only $9.99… you won’t be disappointed!
